Inscenácia MARGITA A BESNÁ z roku 1974 vznikla na motívy balady Jána Bottu s použitím textov slovenských ľudových piesní. Išlo o čierne divadlo, v ktorom bábky mali pripomínať postavičky zo šúpolia. Inscenáciu režíroval Ľubomír Vajdička a scénickú výpravu navrhol Jozef Ciller. Obaja tvorcovia sú najmä činohernými divadelníkmi a Margita a Besná bola ich prvou inscenáciou pre bábkové divadlo. Vďaka tejto hre opäť ožila povesť o dvoch skalách, týčiacich sa po oboch stranách rieky Váh pri Strečne. Pred týmto strmým úsekom rieky sa mali na pozore aj naši pltníci. Na javisku Bábkového divadla v Žiline sme si pripomenuli zlú macochu, ktorá zo žiarlivosti a nenávisti zhodila svoju pastorkyňu Margitu do Váhu. Aj keď bol dej zasadený do minulosti, režisér Vajdička dokázal priblížiť hru vďaka ľudovým piesňam a básnickému slovu vtedajším malým divákom.

The production of MARGITA AND BESNÁ from 1974 was based on the motifs of Ján Botta’s ballad using texts of Slovak folk songs. It was a black theatre play in which puppets were supposed to resemble corn husk dolls. This production was directed by Ľubomír Vajdička and designed by Jozef Ciller. Both creators are mainly dramatic theatre artists and Margita and Besná were their first staging for the puppet theatre. Thanks to this play, a reputation of the two rocks on both sides of the river Váh near Strečno was revived. Even our rafters were aware in front of this steep section of the river. On the stage of The Puppet Theatre Žilina, we reminded ourselves of a bad step mother who out of jealousy and hatred threw her step daughter Margita into the Váh. Even though the story was set in the past, director Vajdička was able to bring the play closer to then young audience thanks to the folk songs and poetic words.
